    Installation:
    =============

    If you have downloaded this product then unzip the archive into a
    temporary folder on your hard drive and run the INSTALL program
    found in that folder.  You may then delete the temporary folder.

    If this product was supplied on a CD-ROM then run the INSTALL
    program found on the CD-ROM.


    Version 4 enhancements:

    Version 4 contains 10 new major features plus several enhancements
    and bug fixes.  For a full list, please see the game's help under
    "What's new?".  Here are just some:

      - New light-sourced, beveled piece edges for 3D look.
      - Choose piece thickness from paper, card or wood.
      - Six styles to choose from such as Classic, Bubbles and Stars.
      - Change piece size, style, thickness and "oddness" on the fly.
      - Variable intensity background "ghost" image option.
      - Preview all jigsaws in a folder at once with thumbnail option.
      - Customize windows with supplied "skins" or add your own.
      - Add your own MP3 or WAV files to background music player.
      - Removed upper limit on number of pieces.
      - Gift jigsaws enhanced for new shapes, also support save/restore.

    The jigsaw preview screen makes finding your favorite jigsaw a snap
    and even lets you change the number and size of pieces in the jigsaw.

3.  Full-featured! Automatically arrange pieces around the outside of the
    board to leave room to solve the puzzle. Other programs make you scroll
    the screen to find a piece. You can never lose a piece "off screen" with
    this program! We take away the drudgery by sorting pieces by shape or
    color, as you wish. Change the size of pieces on the fly. Now you can
    fit all of the pieces on the board all of the time. And it's so easy to
    create new jigsaws! You can even create self-contained "gift" jigsaws
    to email to your friends. Of course there's flying hints, context
    sensitive help, sound effects and music, as you'd expect.

4.  Fun! The jigsaws look (and sound) great. Pieces can look like paper,
    card or wood, just like real ones. Sneaky cheat modes let you flash the
    piece you're looking for, or fetch it, or turn pieces the right way up.
    You can even watch the jigsaw solve itself.

    

    About the program:

    The program requires Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000 or later and the evaluation
    version takes around 4MB of disk space when installed.  Please see the
    game's ordering information for details of how to order a full version
    and extra jigsaws, including CD-ROM version with 192 jigsaws and bonus

    IMPORTANT NOTE for ATI Rage 128 graphics cards:
    ===============================================

If the installation completed successfully but the game won't start and only shows a small gray box, and your graphics card is based on the ATI Rage 128 (including the ATI Rage 128VR and the ATI All-in-Wonder), you will either need to download the latest ATI driver from http://support.ati.com/drivers/index.html

or, set the card acceleration setting to zero as follows:

Right-click My Computer on the desktop, and then click Properties.
On the Performance tab, click Graphics.
Move the Hardware Acceleration slider to None.
Click OK, then click OK, then click Yes when you are prompted to restart your computer.

or, Open the file C:\Program Files\Jigsaws\jigwin.ini using Windows Notepad and find the following line:

[Advanced options]

Add a line underneath it so it looks like this:

[Advanced options]
Skins Enabled=0

If you can't find [Advanced options] then add both lines. Save the file and close Notepad. Now start the game and you should be all set.
